Top 5 Results Recap

Unfortunately, I will be unable to provide you all with live updates of tonight's Top 5 results show.

I can tell you now that Jamie Foxx will be performing "Blame It" and Taylor Hicks will be performing "Seven Mile Breakdown".

We also already know that next week's theme will be "Rock (& possibly, Roll)" and Slash (Velvet Revolver/Guns N Roses guitarist) will be the mentor. Chris Daughtry will be performing on the Top 4 results show.

I will post the results and videos of the group performance and Ford commercial later this evening!

So yeah, Adam was in the bottom two tonight with Matt Giraud. Kris Allen was in the bottom three... Allison Iraheta and Danny were safe.

They sent Matt home.

It is probably good that I did not have to suffer through watching this live. I might have had a slight mental breakdown.... it was bad enough having to wait between text message updates while I was at work!

Anyway. The Ford commercial video and group performance video will be posted soon, along with the studio mp3s.

Adam Lambert: Kiss From a Rose

Top 5 EW Power Rankings

Kris Allen has taken the top spot away from Adam Lambert in this week's Entertainment Weekly power rankings. Adam falls into second place, while Danny Gokey remains in fourth.

4. Danny Gokey: (Last week: No. 4) Simon seems to be slipping off his bandwagon, noting his karaoke take on "September" had no star quality just a week after criticizing his harp-led arrangement of "Endless Love." Unlike Adam, Kris, Allison, and even Matt, Danny has yet to deliver a thoroughly original arrangement during the season 8 finals -- something that seems more of a requirement in the New Idol Order. Needs to deliver a stellar, breakout performance if he's going to make good on Paula's "See you in the finals!" prediction, not to mention avoid a shock elimination this week.

2. Adam Lambert: (Last week: No. 1) Hasn't had a single bad (or even middling) performance in seven weeks of the season 8 finals -- something none of his competitors can boast! -- and his "Mad World" and "Tracks of My Tears" have arguably been the season's most gripping performances. Biggest challenge for Glambert, in fact, is that he's set the bar so high with his unbridled theatricality and manic energy, that anything less than a show-stopper can seem like something of a let-down. The crown is still his to lose, but if there was ever a week for a switcheroo at the top of the Idol Power List, you've got to admit it'd have to follow his slightly sleepy "If I Can't Have You."

Adam Lambert Phones In to Upright Cabaret

Last night, Upright Cabaret (a place where Adam Lambert frequently performed before American Idol) held a special concert to celebrate his success.

Adam was unable to attend the event, but phoned in to express his gratitude to everyone there!

Here's the transcript of what was able to to be made out from the phone call (from YouTube videos):

Producers: How's Alcatraz? That little place they have you locked up?

Adam: Alcatraz is a prison of love. I'm sorry I can't be there, it's for legal reasons.

Producers: It's illegal for him to be here.

Adam: I apoligize, you all know how it is. I love you all and I am completely honored by everything that you guys are doing for me. I can't believe it. It kinda freaks me out. And I love you all.

Producers: Adam, will you sing a little something? Like something you've done here at Upright maybe, either crazy, or i dunno, just a little song.

Adam: Here's a little thing for you. Can I sing something?

Adam sings!!! (I don't know the name of the song.)

Then everyone screams out, "HI ADAM LAMBERT!!!" Someone else screams, "You're f'ing hot!"

Adam: I really really appreciate this and I don't wanna be.

Producers: This is kinda creepy, I'm holding a microphone up to a phone. I've never had such a famous friend.

Adam asks who is there and they tell him some of the performers and Adam gets all cheery and excited.

Producers: You have a lot of friends here.

Adam: I really really appreciate this, I can't wait to share it with you guys.

Producers: We can't wait either. Will we all come back to see him come back here?

Cheers galore.

Producers: When it's legal again, when Simon Cowell doesn't have him wrapped up in his own crazy contract.

Adam: Oh he wants to live with us, it's okay.

Producers: So we have people here from New Jersey. If you can give a shout out to New Jersey and to Connecticut.

Adam: Holla New Jersey! Holla Connecticut!

Producers: And then of course we have to say holla to San Diego and Los Angeles. Hey Adam, we're wearing black nail polish.

Adam: I heard, I heard, that's amazing.

Producers: Yeah, and eyeliner.

Adam: I love you all.

Producers: We're going to let you go to bed because you've had a very long day. How many ford commercials did you shoot today?

Adam: Oh that's tomorrow.

Producers: That's tomorrow. Okay, well, we love you!

Adam: Alisan Porter is my idol, so get ready.

Producers: She didn't show up, she flaked out tonight. Randy Jackson called her in.

Adam: Is she singing?

Producers: Alisan Porter flaked out on us because Randy Jackson called her in to sing. That's a good gig.

Adam: You know she is pretty amazing.

Producers: Adam so we have two more performers tonight, one being shoshana bean the other being audra mae, so will you introduce them for us?

Adam: Oh of course.

Producers: All right go ahead.

Adam: Ladies and gentlemen, Ms. Shoshana Bean and Ms. Audra Mae!

Simon Cowell's Final Two Are...

Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey!!

Top 5 Theme (Specifically)

From the Fox press release:

The theme for the Top 5 is rumored to be "Jazz Standards". I was unsure what exactly that meant, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Sounds like it might be pretty crazy, haha. Just a rumor though... and don't they start doing two songs now that it's top 5? Guess we'll find out soon!

Disco Night Results

Tonight: two contestants will be eliminated, David Archuleta will be singing his new single, "Touch My Hand, and something "big" is going to happen that's never happened before.

In honor of Earth Day (April 22), Fox has made the Idols give their tips on how to "green it". And since I am all about saving the planet, I thought these should be shared.

Adam Lambert remains in the number one position on this weeks Entertainment Weekly Power Rankings. Danny Gokey moves up one spot from 5th to 4th.

Danny Gokey: (Last week: No. 5) True, his idea of a relevant musical arrangement includes a harp (seriously!), but nonetheless, six weeks into the season 8 finals, Danny has yet to appear in the bottom three. That said, the bespectacled growler has been slowly losing Simon's support, and with Disco Night upon us, there's a good chance we'll have to see more of his horrific dance moves. Needs a stellar, breakout performance -- and soon! -- to prove he's got superstar potential and convince viewers of the merits of the producer-preordained Adam-Danny final showdown.

Until or unless his competitors start consistently taking big (and successful) risks, the season 8 crown is his to lose.

Anyhoozer, so I get a call that a fan of mine wants to meet me and would love to spend some time together… later in the call I find out that its my fav American Idol contestant, Danny Gokey! I am an unashamed Idol watcher so it was cool to spend some time with him. He is a stand up guy, loves God, has a genuine heart, and has a freaking crazy voice! (That’s my way of saying he can SANG). Tour Dates

Dates for the 2009 American Idols summer tour have been announced. The tour will run from July 5-September 15 and will hit 50 cities. Tickets go on sale May 9. (Anyone going to be at the Verizon Center on August 4? I will be!)

Top 7 Results Show Recap

It's slightly early for this, I know. This is just to let everyone know that I will be recapping tonight's results show as it happens. Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson will be performing tonight..

Paula Abdul announced this morning on a radio show that next weeks theme (Top 6!) will be "Disco" and she will be choreographing the group performance.

See you in less than five hours!

Well.. I didn't get to update this live like I wanted to.. but the bottom three tonight were Lil, Matt, and Anoop.. Anoop and Lil were safe.. and then Matt sang.. and the judges used their save!!! Simon said he didn't think Matt have a chance of winning though. I'm glad they saved him..

Next week is disco night and two people will be kicked off (Lil and Anoop, hopefully).

Adam Lambert as Spiderman?

Before Adam Lambert got involved with American Idol, he was in consideration to play the lead in an upcoming Broadway production of Spider-man.

Bernie Telsey, casting director, said that they had Adam in mind to audition for the musical because of his past experience. He also said he would like to cast Adam for more shows after his Idol journey is over.

It seems that Adam is bound for success, whether he wins American Idol, or not.

Adam Lambert remains at the top of this week's power rankings by Entertainment Weekly and Danny Gokey moves down a spot. Here's what they had to say:

Danny Gokey: (Last week: No. 4) Not exceedingly popular among EW.com readers (he only got 8 percent of votes in last week's Idol Power poll) but apparently somebody's voting for the guy, as he hasn't made a single bottom-three appearance, despite an overbaked "What Hurts the Most" and a "Stand By Me" that was a melted cheddar slice away from dripping with cheese. Needs to prove he's capable of subtlety and originality if he wants to make those early predictions of a Gokey-Lambert finale a reality.

1. Adam Lambert: (Last week: No. 1) After a merely mortal "Play That Funky Music," the long-standing front-runner returned to his otherworldly heights with a haunting, moving "Mad World." With six weeks remaining, it would almost take a case of massive self-implosion (or self-sabotage) to stop his march to the finale. Here's hoping he doesn't test that theory with a selection off the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" soundtrack on Tuesday!
