Fantasy Springs Concert Almost Sold Out
By 12:30 p.m. Friday tickets for “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert's Fantasy Springs Feb. 27 concert were selling at brisk pace.
By the end of the day, ticket sales were approaching sell-out status.
Lambert is the “American Idol” contestant who lost out to Kris Allen in the May finale of the show, but since has charged ahead of his competitor when it comes to popularity.
By 7 p.m., more than 1,400 tickets had been purchased and the resort's hotel had no rooms available for the night of the Feb. 27 show, according to Fantasy Springs public relations manager Ciara Green.
“And the calls are still coming in from around the world,” Green said in an update.
Those hoping to find a nearby room were calling the Holiday Inn Express down the road, she said, but Green had no information on whether that hotel had any availability for the Feb. 27 date.
The box office phone lines remained busy all day with callers jamming the lines from the 10 a.m. opening time, she added.
Ticket-buyers began lining up at the Special Events Center box office as early as 6:15 a.m., nearly four hours before the tickets went on sale.
One woman from Orange County and another from San Diego, had each driven to the Indio casino to purchase their tickets at the box office.
“They said they had friends coming from New York and other parts of the East Coast for Adam Lambert's show,” said Green.
“I talked to a woman who was waiting at the box office this morning before it opened and she said she opened up (The Desert Sun), saw the info about the concert and ran, well drove, right down here,” Green said.
The hotel, she said, had been fielding calls throughout the night from callers as far away as Taiwan.
Phone traffic was “extremely busy all day,” with operators recommending that people log on to fantasyspringsresort.com to purchase tickets, Green said. “That way, they will not have to wait on hold for an untold amount of time.”
Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is at 84-245 Indio Springs Parkway.

Is Kradam Over??
What could this possibly mean? Are they still friends? Was Kris just too busy? Is the Internet over-reacting, as usual? Leave your thoughts about this situation in the comments...
Personally, I think everyone is freaking out over nothing. Something probably came up, and Kris was unable to make it. I don't think this is the end of the world! I could be wrong, though..

Dose.Ca Interview
A year ago, Adam Lambert wouldn’t have been flown to Canada to do a promo blitz in suburban Toronto. That was pre-American Idol – the show that took him from being a hoofer in touring Broadway shows to pop stardom. And long before he’d earned a snappy nickname (“Glambert”), inspired a rash of Avatar slash-fiction fan-art or incensed several thousand delicate television viewers with a sexually-aggressive performance at the American Music Awards.
Schmoozing with people who get as much (if not less) media attention than he does is also still a novelty. The morning of our interview, People Magazine ran a picture of Lambert chilling with Justin Timberlake at a luxe Screen Actors Guild Awards afterparty. That sort of thing, says Lambert, “that’s pretty surreal.”
“It was just such a treat to be able to talk to him for a couple of minutes,” says Lambert of how Timberlake and “his people” came over to introduce themselves at a SAG party that past weekend. “He’s a really smart guy and I respect what he does as a musician and a creator so much, it was really cool. And he knew who I was! It was like, ‘I can’t believe Justin Timberlake knows who I am,’” he says, talking out of the side of his mouth, conspiratorially.
Lambert’s debut, For Your Entertainment, doesn’t feature Timberlake, but the album credits are nevertheless extensive and eclectic – and stacked with bold-faced names. Theatrical British guitar heroes Muse contribute a song (“Soaked”), as does pop star P!nk ( “Whataya Want From Me”), camp-rock revivalist Justin Hawkins of The Darkness (“Music Again”), Lady Gaga (“Fever”) and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo (“Pick U Up”) -- to name a few. Given the range, odds are you’re a fan of at least one of them. Lambert’s bananas for the whole pack – but in the rare instances where he had the opportunity to work with some of these idols in studio (Lady Gaga and Cuomo were among a small selection), he says his fandom wasn’t a liability.
“To be honest with you, I’m not that easily intimidated. I think that everybody’s human and I think that fame is kind of an illusion, to be honest,” he says – a reassuring fact considering he’s been recruited by Entertainment Tonight to be their red carpet style correspondent at the Grammys this weekend.
That much-repeated Oprah show anecdote about how he was “intimidated” upon meeting Madonna was a rare exception, he says. (“She’s someone who I grew up watching,” he says by way of explanation.) And, OK, maybe you could consider Christina Aguilera fanboy-spaz fodder, as well. “I think Christina Aguilera would be really interesting to perform with, and I think I might be a little starstruck by her because I respect her so much,” he admits.
But working alongside his favourite artists? Lambert says that was his cue to give’er, not gush.
“I mean, Lady Gaga in particular – I’m a huge fan,” says Lambert, who included her song “Fever” on his album. “We just had a great day recording it together. She really pushed me to my limit. […] I was sitting there [in the studio] and Lady Gaga was on the other side of the glass going, ‘Go crazier!’ This is Lady Gaga telling me to go crazier. Go! It definitely is inspiring.”
The song is a dead ringer for a Scissor Sisters single – with the addition of the Lady’s signature sta-sta-sta-stuttering lyrics. And while it’s a bit more disco-inspired than some of the other pop confections on For Your Entertainment, the album is weighted with dance-pop fare – the sort that Britney Spears usually speak-sings in her baby voice, but instead is being sung by a 28-year-old guy with the ability to unleash multi-octave shrieking vocals.
Lambert shares co-writing credit on a handful of tracks. And perhaps fittingly, they’re the “feelings” songs on the disc.
“Especially the songs that I wrote, there were definitely messages I was trying to get across; empowerment messages are really important to me,” he says.
“I like writing about feeling good, about feeling comfortable in your own skin, feeling beautiful from the inside and owning it,” he continues, citing the songs “Strut,” “Aftermath” and “Broken Open.”
But the song that seems the most loaded is one he didn’t touch: his current single, which was provided by P!nk.
“‘Whataya Want From Me’ took on a whole new meaning after the AMA controversy,” says Lambert. “At first, it was about a relationship to me … but then after everything happened I thought, ‘This is funny, because the double meaning here is to the public, and to the fans, like ‘What do you want from me?’ Do you want me to be this guy, or do you want me to this guy? Or do you want me to just be me?’”
“I’d like to choose to just be me!” he says impishly. “But the question still stands, ‘What do you guys want?’”
The pressure of public expectations has started to wane since that AMA media storm – which led to ABC cancelling a scheduled appearance on Good Morning America. “At the beginning – especially right after that controversy with the AMAs it was like ‘Ah! What am I supposed to do?’ But now I feel more grounded.
“It’s great to be talked about, and visible, when you have an album out, of course. But some of the negative attention I wasn’t too fond of. I was like, ‘Really, is it that big of a deal?’ And apparently to some people it was. But the good news is, to some people it was kind of cool, so I’ll just try to pay attention to the positive side.”

National Post Interview
Lambert has become a big deal since he was introduced on last year's American Idol. With his guyliner and Adam Ant hair, Lambert, the runner-up on one of the most popular TV shows of all time, became as well known for his theatrics as for his voice.
"I wear nail polish regularly, but the makeup is for special occasions," says Lambert, who, in his black clothes, heavy makeup and silver necklaces, looks a bit like Captain Jack Sparrow auditioning for True Blood. "I love Lady Gaga, not only because she's a great writer and singer, but she's a performance artist and a club kid. I like that."
In Toronto to talk up For Your Entertainment, his debut gold record released in November, Lambert comes across as nonchalant, friendly and keen to keep his fame in perspective.
After all, he was an understudy in a production of Wicked before hearing the siren call of reality TV. From the outset, the singer was mindful of how he came across on television.
"I like playing dress-up, I like going out, I like taking pride in how I look," he says, citing David Bowie, Boy George, Mötley Crüe and Michael Jackson as influences. "My look is androgynous and over-the-top, but makeup and nail polish are just part of the story. Musicians used to want to feel sexy, I honestly don't know what changed."
I can report that the gun metal nail polish actually does make me feel sort of sexy - though it's a look better suited to the Grammy Awards, where Lambert will act as a fashion consultant for Entertainment Tonight, than the produce department at your local No Frills, but Lambert insists nail polish is just a cool shirt for your hands.
"People assume if you're wearing nail polish you're gay, but I know more straight dudes that wear makeup and nail polish than I know gay guys who do," says Lambert, whose sexuality became a topic of debate during the run-up to last year's Idol finale. Whether or not Lambert was gay was discussed on the cover of Entertainment Weekly before the singer finally announced he was on the cover of Rolling Stone.
"I've been out since I was 18, [so] it was funny to me: ‘He came out,' I've been out, yo," says Lambert, adding that the only reason he didn't tell the world prior to his Rolling Stone cover is that American Idol forbids its final 13 contestants from talking to the press until the winner is announced. "Did you see what I did on the show? I was in rhinestones and glitter platform boots; if that doesn't say it, I don't know what could."
Lambert has been an outspoken provocateur since American Idol gave him a platform. The singer sparked a controversy with his performance at November's American Music Awards, where a portion of his choreography mimed oral sex.
"Not to criticize him, but Eminem's song actually says the Slim Shady character had 17 rapes. That's OK to talk about, but the minute someone in a choreographed way stimulates a sex act, that's the outrage?" Lambert asks. "I know it's a taboo because I'm a gay guy, but I'm not going to perform any differently than how I want to. Believe me, I'm not going to make anyone's children anything different than what they already are."
Lambert will turn 28 on Friday. And even though the manicurists motions to me that I can come back later and have my gun metal paint removed, I opt to keep it. I'm looking forward to showing the look off to my wife.

"The people of Haiti need your help. The images are heartbreaking, the loss of life devastating, but tonight you can help the people of Haiti. Give whatever you can. Your contributions can help end the unimaginable suffering. Do something that will change a life, do something that will make a difference. Don't just let the images on television fade to black."

Adam Does A Vevo Hotel Party Video
'Whataya Want From Me' Video Premiere
Reviews:
Michael Slezak: "Just like the song’s lyrics, the video is open to interpretation, but the sparseness of that dreamy apartment (Santa, I would like those kitchen cabinets!), the misty chill of the backyard scenes, the undiscarded remnants of a hastily eaten Chinese meal…they all contribute to a mood of slightly somber confusion, the idea that, yeah, even a pop star occasionally “needs a second to breathe,” to learn to navigate the public and personal relationships that get inevitably altered by the sudden arrival of fame and fortune, of all the good and bad that come with ‘em."
Jim Cantiello: "
At first glance, one could interpret this video as Adam's "fame isn't all it's cracked up to be" statement (see: Britney Spears' "Everytime" clip). Although most of the video takes place in a private apartment, Adam is always reacting to the ever-present camera that lingers, harasses and, at one point, slams the door on him. Adam's relationship with the intrusive camera runs the gamut from trying to ignore it to getting violent with it. Sometimes he wants it to be close; other times he's giving it death stares from across the room."

Fuse: On The Record
Press Release:
“Adam Lambert: On The Record with Fuse” Premieres January 11th at 8pm ET
New York, NY (January 6, 2010) – Fuse, Madison Square Garden’s national music television network, gets up close and personal with the former American Idol and headline-maker in “Adam Lambert: On The Record with Fuse.” Premiering on Monday, January 11th at 8pm ET during Fuse Idol All Stars, the program joins a lineup of shows featuring fellow Idol alum including videos from Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry and more. Fuse host Toure’ sits down with Adam Lambert to talk about his latest single, coming out of the closet, and middle school.
The following are selected sound bites from the interview:
On his new album cover:
“People saw that cover and they were like ‘he looks a little feminine to me, I don’t understand.’ I’m like yeah… I had so much airbrushing on that picture on purpose. The hunky dory cover that Bowie did, Boy George and Motley Crue and Prince — like all these artists that did this over the top, lipsticky glammy thing. The minute someone from ‘Idol’ does it, who’s actually gay, it’s like ‘Oh No!’”
On middle school:
“Middle School was kind of an isolated time. I mean the only social outlet I really had was theatre and that was one day a week. I was in a childrens theatre group on Saturdays and that was really my social group. That was the one place where I felt like there were other kids like me.”
About coming out of the closet:
“It’s funny …This whole thing, talking about coming out. I don’t even think about it anymore until all of this started happening with my career. And it’s interesting now, because I am open and visible. I suppose it is important to talk about it, but the past eight or nine years of my life I haven’t thought twice about it, it’s just who I am.”
On collaborating with Pink:
“Next single we’ve started to promote is ‘"Whattya Want from Me." It was written by Pink and Max Martin who is a huge hit maker and I heard the demo that she recorded and it just broke my heart. The lyrics are just so honest and vulnerable and I think anybody can relate to the message in the song.”

Lady GaGa Defends Adam?
According to The National Enquirer (and I mean, they're always totally reliable.. not) some crazy guy approached Lady GaGa while she was partying with pals at a club in Ottawa.
He shouted, “I saw you and Adam Lambert on the AMA show, and the guy’s a flaming fa**ot — and I also think that you’re actually a MAN!”
GaGa replied, “Well, that’s your opinion, isn’t it? And I’m not about to waste my time trying to change it.”
The guy responded, “Well, don’t you care that you’re both going to HELL!”
Outraged, GaGa said, “No…not as long as I don’t have to see YOUR face there!”
Crazy guy screamed, “WELL, YOU’RE A FREAK…AND SO IS HE!”
Before GaGa left, she said, “Okay, that’s it! Call ME anything you want, but when you start calling my friends names, it’s OVER — it’s WAR!”
GaGa then dumped a glass of wine on the dude and left.
Thoughts? Does anyone actually care? Isn't it just sad that there are people out there in this world who act like that man?
